That the brain is part of the body, and can no more belong to the opposite sex than your hand or your leg.

Woke up to a giant pile of notifications only to find that it appears mostly to be a semantic dispute over the meaning of "sex", which .... I guess to throw my own 2¢ in I find to be a pretty unimportant question? Like if the OED declared my sex to be "smeerp" my life would go on

Honestly since the very start of transition this has been part of the motivation for being "stealth" in real life - whatever semantic or cultural shifts occur, including a hard conservative turn, if nobody actually knows you're trans you'll find yourself on the right side of them

So much of what appears to be the right-wing/TERF worldview seems predicated on this not being possible, which maybe is why they're so opposed to early puberty blockers? Plenty of adult transitioners go stealth, but if blockers were routine there'd be no perceptible differences.

I think this is related to why so much of the online discussion on this is profoundly uninteresting to me, like it's wholly divorced from any notion of how I am or should be living my life because it's based on pretending I don't exist.

I made a New Year's resolution to just never answer the question "Well can you define sex? Can you define man and woman?" again Surely answering it 50,000 times already is enough to ask of anybody I've done my part

I'm guessing you would rather that sex wasn't a thing at all? But it is a thing. It's important that we have language to be able to talk about it. It would help if we could do that without being called bigots.

In an ideal world you could have all the stupid abstract philosophical debates about this in your drawing room that you wanted, and none of it would be used to enact material restrictions on other people's lives

This is why I hate all this bullshit rhetoric about how "we just want a conversation" Clearly you don't, your fun little conversations are always just a pretext for demanding people be forcibly removed from certain places and demanding certain medical treatments withheld

Reminds me of men who argue as intellectuals that since every political philosophy is flawed, ergo feminist theory must be flawed as well. Then they get offended when you suggest they're giving license to misogyny.

2. They complain we're being 'kneejerk.' Same crowd always defends Philip Roth too.
