Anyone, TERF or not, who uses the phrase "just adopt" does not know what they are talking about and should shut the fuck up "Just adopt" is a telltale phrase of someone who wants a dismissive gotcha argument and has NEVER actually researched adoptionhttps://twitter.com/Slatzism/status/1379119773758423043 …

Adoption is *also* outsourcing the reproductive labour to someone else, it's just that society has classified that someone else as a "failed parent" so that makes it fine or something

Children with absolutely no living family willing/able to take them would almost always fall under Arthur's caveats about foster care.

Yes, the "movie orphan" scenario -- someone whose parents die as a baby and have no living kin or godparents to take them in -- may happen sometimes, but it's absurdly rare Any baby in this situation would move through the foster system almost instantly

If you sign up to be a foster parent hoping for a situation like this to come up, you will be waiting... forever Even if this literally happened in your city immediately after you were approved, you'd be competing for that baby with a dozen other prospective parents

(It isn't *impossible* to adopt babies through the foster system, but you'll be waiting a long time, and if you foster a baby as opposed to an older child the probability of parental reunification is really high -- you've got to *really* fuck up for them to take a baby away)
