Even the worst case scenario of "renting someone's womb", as they put it, is still fundamentally more ethical and less damaging than the infant adoption industry's behavior of hovering over poor families waiting for someone to fuck up and create a situation to exploit

My first instinct was disagreement, but then I reflected on the heartbreaking and infuriating stories of parents who thought they were agreeing to open adoptions only to find they’d been tricked into international closed adoptions. Makes me rethink my stance.

One could argue that as infant adoption becomes more ethical it looks *more* like surrogacy in terms of the extent of the financial and medical support provided to the person giving birth. It only differs in the origin of the pregnancy and initial contact with the system (1/2)
