Especially if you, yourself, haven't adopted any of these kids either, and you're only bringing this up now to dunk on gay couples

In Australia there were 334 total adoptions last year, that includes 37 intracountry adoptions. 249 of those adoptions were know adoptions where the child is already known to the adoptive parents. That's 48 kids are year that are adopted locally by unknown parents.

Times have changed significantly. We now focus on helping parents to keep their kids, or at least improve their circumstances so they can regain custody at some point. Taking kids away from their parents isn't usually a solution, especially forever.

Interesting to me that these kinds of people always preface it with "if you can't have kids of your own". Probably a lot to unpack there about why that exception exists to them, and whether or not it applies to them.

Also what value they actually place on adopted kids. Clearly they consider adopted kids “lesser” than ones they spawn.
