I'm fascinated by the concept of metallic glass/amorphous metal alloys and think they're incredibly cool but on the consumer level there's not really a lot of access to them I want, like, jewelry made out of amorphous alloy

There's a site that was selling amorphous metal knives (out of stock now) and only the edge is actually made of metal glass, the body of the knife is just regular stainless steel
-
Liquidiamond, yeah I think they're out of business or something, their website's been down I bought a santoku knife relatively cheap in a bid to improve my willingness to cook for myself, where it will join my titanium spork as the second piece of cutlery I officially own

"Economical" isn't the point with jewelry. Exclusivity is. Difficulty and expense make it more attractive. Diamonds are pretty much the least visually interesting stone that exists, and it's only now that perfect artificial ones are cheap and easy that people talk up the flaws.

Meh It's not actually difficulty and expense, it's being traditionally valued while also being difficult and expensive If you just make up your own idiosyncratic thing to be interested in the market won't instantly pick up on it
