Have me host Jeopardy but all I do is lounge on set and push the button that makes the question come up I won't read it to them, they can read it themselves and then I'll tell them if they're right

What triggers this? Is it automatic? Or is there a person in the back just waiting and very quickly releasing the buzzers as soon as he finishes?

Everything on the Jeopardy set is "manually" operated by the crew, when the host finishes reading the card a crew member pushes a button to turn on the indicator light "unlocking" the buzzer

I guess it's "TV magic" that people are surprised by this fact even though it has to work that way because the game is "operated" just by people talking (and voice recognition technology only became even sort of reliable enough to take natural language commands recently)
