Nah, you are in fact ignorant and wrong on this one -- Jesse's big scary smoking gun on this is a chart showing a handful of people in LA getting top surgery (breast reduction surgery), which is NOT genital surgery, because breasts are not genitals

And it is not actually that uncommon for cis teenage girls to get top surgery, far from it being illegal It made the cover of People magazine when Soleil Moon Frye (Punky Brewster) got top surgery at the age of 15 https://people.com/archive/cover-story-now-i-can-be-free-vol-39-no-16/ …

She also had a pretty specific medical condition that isn't super-duper uncommon, if I recall correctly.

Well, okay, this gets into the whole philosophical thing with "medical conditions" Yes, she was diagnosed with a "condition" that was the justification for "fast-tracking" the surgery because it wasn't a mere "cosmetic procedure"

(However, it bears re-emphasizing that "cosmetic" procedures, with parental consent, *are* completely legal and relatively normalized for teenagers -- my HS girlfriend got facial reconstructive surgery when she was 17)

That said, the name of the "condition" was "gigantomastia", which is just Greek for "breasts too big" There is no specific "underlying" condition that makes gigantomastia gigantomastia -- it is simply defined by breasts being too big

This is, obviously, a socially defined medical condition It's bad to have breasts too big because hardly anyone else has breasts that big so people make fun of you and you feel weird going out in public and it sucks

And the line between gigantomastia ("giant breasts", breasts so big they'll rule it a "medical issue" right away) and macromastia ("big breasts", where there's a lot more gatekeeping involved) and not having a "medical condition" at all is socially defined, it's arbitrary

Obviously, yes, there's physical symptoms too -- back pain, itching, sweating, chafing, all that good stuff That's a spectrum of stuff that happens to anyone who has breasts, and how much it bugs you and whether it's "worth it" to have surgery is a matter of opinion

(And, yes, a matter of gender identity You'll notice that if a cis man has breasts at all and they bother him they just go ahead and call it "gynecomastia" ("breasts like a woman") and approve medical treatment regardless of whether they're "macro-" or "giganto-")

I see the gender point. In this case, it's likely as much a matter of sex. If a trans girl had gynecomastia, she would be eligible for getting the surgery/treatment as well.
