I suppose the counter would be that it would be something that could be stopped, and it would be relatively easy to do something about it.

2020 has killed my faith in people, ngl. I also think the mcu frantically trying to stay current with the real world technology wise (shout out to fortnite!) is one of its biggest writing weaknesses

Dull listless depression is the best case scenario for an average person's psychological reaction to the Snap People going into full self-destructive meltdown would be fairly common (Hawkeye vs Thor)

Well, sure, just like Thor always really had an inner basement-dwelling irresponsible dirtbag that he's been struggling against his whole life due to the burden of responsibility

I thought that was oddly affecting, even though a lot of people would call it a plot hole The Mjolnir-judging-him-unworthy thing was originally because of that self-indulgent lazy douchebag streak he showed off in Thor 1

The whole thing is the concept of time travel is like the worst situation you could put someone with severe PTSD into That's what PTSD *is*, a sense of temporal "slippage", of not being able to move forward because the past still feels like the present

Taking him back to Thor 2 to do their plan to retrieve the Aether is telling him "We're gonna go back to the last moment in your life when everything seemed like it was okay and you're gonna have to relive the moment it all started going horribly wrong, but you can't change it"

That's - that's what a "PTSD flashback" literally is What we call being "triggered" is the overwhelming dysphoric reaction to the brain just *considering* the *possibility* of this scenario

I think the MCU has demonstrated that fiction thats as inherently linear as movies (yes, even non-linear movies are still contained by being shown to you at one second per second) has massive limitations you can't overcome even in three hours.
