Something that annoys me about biozombie fiction is when zombies aren't depicted behaving in ways you know they naturally would Like if your zombie needs to eat, then zombies should also be able to starve to death, a sealed vault full of clickers should eventually just die

Zombie Survival Guide handwaves this, saying the "zombie toxin" (Solanum) is like no actual bacterium or virus known to humans, it's something akin to a prion that fundamentally changes the way the proteins of living tissue work
-
Zombie muscles are "powered by Solanum" in some unknown way, and the whole "brain as weak spot" thing is because the brain has been transformed from an organ of consciousness into the body's Solanum-producing factory

If we simplify things Just a tiny bit, powering muscles means getting ATP molecules in the muscle cells. A fungus could do that by "eating" the Zombies brain and other inner Organs. Would explain their absolute Hunger. Would also mean, If they don't eat, they consume themself.

Well if the circulatory system doesn't work then eating doesn't work
