ok so my understanding of Doom canon is: 1) Doomguy does Doom 1, 2, and 64 2) while eternally fighting in Hell post-64 he's picked up by the Sentinels, eventually has the Slayer ritual done to him, and then does Doom stuff for centuries

It's been vaguely established that id software still considers it canon that Doomguy is descended from BJ Blazkowicz from Wolfenstein (and therefore also descended from BJ's grandson Commander Keen) Doom is therefore in the future of a timeline where post-WWII happened normally
-
The Bethesda New Order Wolfenstein games are, therefore, yet another alternate timeline (that id doesn't really acknowledge) And the Quake Arena/Champions stuff yet another timeline from all of that (with that conceit laying the groundwork for a multiverse in the first place)
