You tried one thing, then you tried another thing That's what life is, a series of trying things You may well try a third or fourth thing in the future What's disingenuous is loading it with this significance about having a thing done to you and then undone

Someone who "detransitions" is generally not equivalent to someone who never transitioned at all -- there's no going back in life, only forward, there's no magical rewind to an "original state" -- and while some are aggrieved and see this as "damage" many don't

And everyone is entitled to their regrets, sure But when someone starts *weaponizing* their regrets to say they should have been *forcibly prevented* from making choices by Wise Elders who foresaw their regrets -- and this extends to *others* as well -- we've got a problem

When I say the "abortion regret" narrative is "fake" I don't mean to say that there aren't real women out there saying all the shit that narrative consists of, that they were tricked into killing their baby by secular society and want to save other mothers from grief etc etc

I just think that, bluntly, they should be working out their own baggage with their own therapist and not trying to undo their past by inflicting coercion and control on other people

Look, it's an ugly strawman of trans people to say that a newly-transitioned young person will go around saying "EVERYONE must be trans, if you're depressed or anxious that's gender dysphoria talking, the whole world could be fixed with a little HRT!"

Real people generally don't actually believe this because it's obviously ridiculous
@BootlegGirl has *joked* about *coming off* this way in the throes of newfound euphoria, I know But the literal idea of "I'm going to run the world and forcefem everyone" is obviously a joke2 replies 2 retweets 28 likes -

But the "detrans narrative" is doing this SAME EXACT THING to the whole universe of trans people "I'm gonna use my own trauma to diagnose the world at a distance and proclaim that force must be used to prevent them from making my mistakes"

Do you support holding down a struggling cis person to inject hormones into them while going "It's okay, you'll thank me, I thought there was no way I was trans when I was your age either"? No? Good, because no one does, and if they did no one would help them do it

But the detrans movement is doing the EXACT SAME THING IN THE OTHER DIRECTION Holding struggling kids down going "Now just wait until your natural hormones wash over you, trust me, those feelings will go away, you'll thank me"

Not because the "detrans" activists themselves are particularly worse people than anyone else in any other demographic who falls prey to this kind of universal thinking But because they have massive institutional support from regular old transphobic cis people

It wasn't all that long ago that HBIGDA/WPATH member providers were all about ensuring only those who would transition "the right way" (stereotypical dress, stealth) were the only ones allowed access and grudgingly allowed even then! A lot are eager to bring that back and worse.
