And that deserves all the moral opprobrium and social stigma that that term carries, whether or not it has any legal implications, because the law is an inadequate at best instrument of justice and a wholly useless basis for moral principle

He straight up tried to ruin Katelyn Burns' life for defying him and making him look bad If you paid ANY attention to the saga of Jesse repeatedly emailing her boss for "corrections" and hounding her until she got fired and you think Jesse was the good guy you can go to hell

And as I previously pointed out, the only reason this *isn't* actionable under the 2013 VAWA as "cyberstalking" is that Jesse has the cover of being a journo who's just concerned about facts and you can't prove to a jury he was "intending to cause emotional distress"

This is an incredibly difficult thing to prove to a jury under any circumstance, which is not the same as saying it's hardly ever true Hell, actual in-person stalkers who get in your face and yell at you are very hard to prosecute because this country loves free speech so much

Ordinary people call the "journalists" who work for TMZ etc "stalkers" all the time, but they can't be legally arrested for stalking -- in fact they make a living doing what they do and get to put it on TV -- because it's intended to make money, not "intended to cause distress"

All the shit about "public figures" and "information in the public interest" etc. It's reprehensible and it's disgusting but hey it's free speech, we live in a society, etc.

And sure, Jesse doesn't drive up to people's houses yelling questions at them or take pictures with a telephoto lens through their window (all legal and not "stalking" if you do so in your remit as a journalist) But the shit he does is not fucking normal

In the most recent blowup we *had* people stick their necks out and testify to the fact that what Jesse does is not normal, and Jesse and his fanclub had the gall to reply "Well I guess these other so-called journalists don't care much about FACTUAL ACCURACY then"

There is literally no form of criticism, rejection or social shaming Jesse can experience that he doesn't translate into unjust persecution based on his virtuous desire to learn the truth and see it honestly reported If we're going to spend this time calling out pathologies

He won't even change his stupid Flip McVicker avatar after the actual creator of Bojack Horseman roasted him for it Now it's a defiant badge of self-deprecating humor showing he won't give in to the world misunderstanding him or whatever

(For the record, if Jesse tried to argue that by my definition what I'm doing with him constitutes "stalking him" I'd freely own up to it Yeah, I pay more attention to Jesse than is arguably healthy But that's different because he actually does suck really really bad)
