No, this is itself an obvious lie - Katelyn Burns very much did say so about herself and Jesse's response was to make a stink and get her fired (Or, as he charmingly put it, "She got herself fired by being unable to back up her claims" Real classy)

And then *they* act like *they're* the ones taking the issue more seriously than you for this kind of carping Like how the time Amber Frost was snottily chiding people for "making light of rape" by using the adjective "rapey" to describe creepy/unsettling behavior
-
"Rape is a very serious violent physical attack on someone and you're reducing it to just using words in tweets!", etc Disingenuous bullshit complaints -- people word-policing, ironically, to try to stop other people word-policing ("How can mere WORDS be like RAPE")

Turns out that if you successfully set the standard of bad behavior at "things which you could be convicted of a crime for in a court of law" you can get away with a lot.

I’ve noticed that running theme from conservatives in recent years, even my very few right-leaning friends — that anything legal is OK behavior by definition, and we should expect people to do it because there’s nothing in place to stop them. Absurd shit

A big part of this whole "cancel culture" thing is people being aghast that the concept of "extralegal consequences" exists and could ever possibly apply to them Even though the prospect of a society where this wasn't the case is absurd
