I was disheartened to learn that my lesbian Aunt believes that young trans men are more accepted than young butch lesbians and has taken the view that trans healthcare should be less accessible as a result, rather than raising acceptance for everyone regardless.

If the problem is 'society won't accept people who don't fit in certain boxes' the solution is to change society, not beat people into the boxes you prefer so they have it 'easier'.

I came out at 36, because my area didn’t even have education for being any kind of LGBTQIA2S+, and my parents are religious asshats. But if I HAD have known what I was back then? And tried to express it? I’d be dead. Full stop. I barely survived the way they treated me at 36.
