Okay well you know that the t-v distinction is a general thing in many languages (in English the two words are "thou" and "you") and that they're literally just the singular and plural 2nd person ("thou" is one person, "you" is multiple people)

My understanding is that the word “che,” which is commonly used in Argentina (thus “Che” Guevara) is originally from Paraguay, from the Guarani people. I’ve been told that it meant “my lord” or “my liege” but it eventually became an everyday way of casually referring to someone.

Fascinating thread, thanks for the history lesson! Is there another way to say formal "you" besides usted & vosotros? There's also the whole "latinx vs latine" debate. But Español is a colonizer language any way u slice it so... lol
