It is only untrue if you are being obtusely over-literal well beyond what every other person in the conversation has clearly understood him to have meant.

He qualified his remarks in a later tweet with a greater degree of specificity. My eyes still bugged out of my head when I read it. I clearly have a very different way of viewing human beings and their behavior to many of the people in this thread.

Literally everyone in the comments save for you correctly ascertained what his meaning was the first time. Some of us explicitly pointed out that you were being pedantic and over-literal about it even before he clarified for you.

No, I don't think you're understanding what I'm saying. When he clarified it didn't help. I still think it's hyper-vigilant and evidence of splitting.

And as I said in my very first response, is it truly hyper-vigilance when the threat is objectively verifiable? Isn't that just *normal* vigilance?

I don't believe the threat he refers to exists, so no, not to me.

Ha ha yes Trans people and their legal rights are doing just fine God fuck off

Another misrepresentation. We're talking about your stated belief that all people are fundamentally dishonest and self interested. I don't see human beings that way. I didn't say anything about the status of legal rights for trans people.

Specifically, whenever you see any instance of a white man like Jesse barging into a fraught conversation saying "I have no personal stake in this matter, I'm just a brainy nerd who loves science and facts!", you should immediately ask what the personal stake is

Jesse even admitted it, in one of those long in the weeds threads arguing about the philosophical basis of trans identity "If you're trying to argue everyone has a gender identity in the way you mean then that affects me too!" Yeah no shit

Trans people make cis people anxious, even cis people who refuse to admit they have any transphobic animus That is in fact, the definition of the constructed state of *cisness*, the felt need to protect one's gender identity as obvious, unquestionable "biological reality"

In much the same way men are always discomfited by women in a role of authority or power and white people are always discomfited by Blackness Ironically, old school psychoanalysis was based on trying to trace these connections, "You say it doesn't bother you but it clearly does"

Again, ironically, Jesse is happy and proud to point the baleful pathologizing gaze at others - "These YA cancel culture mobs sure are dysfunctional!" - and absolutely opposed to asking the same question about his little netherworld of Substack IDW rationalist chuds
