I still don’t get the logic of people who get upset about Darth Vader getting “redeemed.” Like, there’s no implication in the actual lore that becoming a ghost means you’re on the Light Side. Nothing in the story tells us we should definitely think Vader should be forgiven

He himself apparently believes he has been “saved,” and Luke forgives him, but even Star Wars doesn’t mandate we feel exactly like its characters do

What annoys me more is RETURN OF THE JEDI's entire ethos that Luke is _obligated_ to forgive Vader simply because he's his biological father even when the narrative doesn't ask him to invest any particular faith in other Imperial characters.

Again, that’s Luke’s personal narrative. Rey doesn’t end up deciding the same about her biological parents, even though we’re told they were always good people

I mean, we were told this by Palpatine. I choose not to believe his version of events

What’s the difference?
I prefer the version where they were junk traders who left her for dead instead of the Chosen Ones
But honestly both could be true: he could’ve been a clone of Palpatine who became a junk trader1 reply 1 retweet 4 likes -

That is what we’re supposed to infer yes But in either version, Rey determines she owes nothing to her biological parents

Which is why she picks the name Skywalker, even though by the newer canon there have been as many good people named Palpatine as named Skywalker, and roughly the same number of war criminals

I feel that Rey ought to have been a literal Palpatine clone as opposed to simply his granddaughter. They could even have played into the "Rey Nobody" theme from TLJ by showing vats filled with spare Reys ala Snoke at the start of ROS.

Star Wars blatantly visually referencing Neon Genesis Evangelion feels like this weird full-circle thing
