Right now the system is biased incredibly strongly against trusting the patient and in favor of doctors being little tinpot tyrants over people in their care and I'd like to see a little more balance

If you're affluent, white, otherwise privileged, and generally good at talking to physicians, most of psychiatry is "try this and see if it helps", where their choice of thing to try is rarely a surprise for any patient capable of minimal internet research.

As were the endless checklists you had to go through to get a tubal ligation, or a hysterectomy as treatment for endometriosis ("Are you SURE you're done having kids? What does your husband say about it?") But I guess now it's evil to question doctors' motives and competence
