Lol I can't believe you don't see the perversity here that if everything works out as you want it to the planet will NOT be saved because society's total energy output will still have to go up to feed the demand for Bitcoin mining

It's literally the worst of both worlds - climate change and fossil fuel consumption continuing to accelerate but I don't even get to use any of that power to watch TV It's like some ironic planet from Star Trek

I had to have a long, long think and I finally realize that he's claiming Bitcoin stops plastic consumption by making people not want to spend money, which is absolutely spectacular.

Like every single time they're interviewing a person who randomly made a million dollars with Bitcoin on the news, what did that person do? THEY BOUGHT A NEW CAR AND A HOUSE. It's money. You spend it.

You obviously never owned bitcoin. Bitcoin only increases in value, it doesn't make sense to spend it. The opposite is true for fiat money. Why do you think central banks around the world desperately try to create inflation? This is explicitly meant to *increase* consumption.

A car? No no no, those are much too expensive. Huge waste of precious bitcoin buying one of those. Plus they depreciate like whoa.

So this evil bitcoiners actually don't create as much pollution as an average person and get wealthier? They might be onto something

They create more pollution than the average person and ride around in Ubers all day and think they're trendy and green for not having a car.
