It's not that hard if you think about it to come up with ways someone with Superman's powers could grab some extra cash in ways that would be at worst ethically neutralhttps://twitter.com/wes_chu/status/1372769784899670025 …

the episode of TANGLED WEB written by Scott Levy aka Raven retconned that Crusher Hogan was basically the headliner of an ECW-style promotion that had money problems and was having its talent picked off by a WWF expy Crusher Hogan's gimmick was getting over and Pete ruined it
-
And Crusher Hogan was a Bret Hart kind of figure, who thought the ringwork should speak for itself and couldn't stand gimmicks So him adopting this smug monster heel gimmick was a reluctant choice he made to compromise his ideals to keep the promotion aloft and wrestlers paid

I don't think the wrestling is the problem, it's the ignoring the thief. Spidey actually keeps making money off his superheroing for a long time after by selling pictures of his exploits to the paper, which nobody seems to have a problem with.
-
Of course the go-to "gotta spoil things cause I suck" nerd no-prize is for pointing out that he could have just sold his magical web fluid as a product to law enforcement and made bank. And, of course, the comics eventually go there because modern comics often suck.

Nowadays it's more portrayed as a MMA fight, so you could make the argument that Peter is guilty of doping.

I don’t think having super powers is doping. In practical terms world class athletes have super powers.

When Spider-Man debuted, professional wrestling was still seen by the public as a legit sport.

Well he’s got superpowers. The closest real-life equivalent would be doping, and you’d agree that’s unethical right?
