I dunno I'm still mad that movie was so slept on It was such a good combination of different subgenres (gritty real life foster kid drama, surreal SCP wiki style horror, goofy Kick-Ass-style deconstructive superhero farce) in one relatively short movie

And it all feels like one movie despite the wildly differing tones of the scene with Billy finding his mom, the scene with Billy and Freddie testing his powers, the scenes with Dr Sivana The mood whiplash of Billy suddenly realizing "Wait, you're a bad guy" was so good

It's hard to imagine the MCU being bold enough to pull off anything as raw as that hallway scene

If I had to pinpoint the consistent problem with the MCU it's that they're scared of scenes that are ugly and painful in a human way. I could never see the MCU Spider-Man doing a scene like the one in Spider-Man 2 where Peter tells May he's responsible for Ben's death.

The world of the MCU is wild. A big blue blob suddenly emerges in Missouri, and it's not even mentioned once as an event in other movies. It's like just another Tuesday to them. "Remember that blue thing that destroyed half a town?" "Oh yeah, now that you mention it..."

I don't think it destroyed the whole town just that one Dairy Queen
