It's so wild following up WandaVision with Falcon and Winter Soldier (which was not their original release schedule and was a result of COVID disruptions) Imagine Sam and Bucky suiting up all "Hey did you catch the news about that surreal pocket dimension in New Jersey"

I'll be so mad when the theme music isn't an 80s synth tribute to Axel F

okay that would be extremely good though it's the sort of genre that would really reward that level of deconstruction
-
because it is such a political genre and a recurrent genre the THE WIRE episode would be incredible like can you imagine bucky and falcon as mcnulty and bunk (plus of course there'd be an extremely obscure HOMICIDE reference)

I for one am really sick of everything being a self-aware meta-commentary on itself. Everyone's in a "deconstruction" arms race so no one constructs anything anymore.
-
Okay but if it's just a normal show about two buddy cops patriotically fighting terrorists I... don't want to watch it

every episode is on some level about race but what varies wildly over the years is the question "are we allowed to talk about race" and "what are we allowed to say about it" and, crucially, this is mostly not an arc of steady progress!
-
like early on they can just say "yeah america is a real racist country and maybe we should do something about that" and then for the next five episodes everyone is required to pretend that they didn't just say that
