      The people in the comments saying that this is actually a meaningful concept for the sake of giving yourself a "business trip" so you can dodge taxes are giving really really bad advice though

      In fact, if a regular employer gives you a 'free vacation', they have to report it on your taxable income the following pay period [it may be deductible for the business, which may be relevant if the guy has a corporation, but he's probably *worse* off overall tax-wise]

      Dude in the comments is going off about how Google totally gets away with lying about paid vacations as "conferences" and "team-building trips" and therefore so can you Again, even if everything he says is true, terrible advice to just throw out there to randos

          I mean, maybe there's a broader point to be made about holding conferences in tourist destination cities being a tax scam that all the big industries get away with but it's certainly not accessible to the average small business owner, one-man-company or not.

          Has anybody looked at the IRS lately, they've basically given up on auditing the big guys in favor of small business owners who can't afford to file appeals until they're dead.
