Kinda interesting that there are sandbenders and lavabenders but no glassbenders I assume that's because it would necessitate animating a lot more blood than the TV rating would allow

Sandbending is the result of a desert-dwelling subculture and lavabenders, before the Korra era, didn't exist except for the Avatar

I mean it makes sense that glassbending would be thought of as impossible the same way metalbending was thought to be impossible -- when you make sand into glass you destroy its crystalline structure and make it amorphous

Like that would have been a viable alternative for Ghazan, with a little bit of a Snow Crash callback, and would fit in with the tone of Zaheer's crew overall.

Just recalling the villain who fashioned blades out of glass.

A recently broken shard of glass is sharper than the sharpest metal blade, sometimes with an actual monomolecular edge The problem, of course, is that something made by breaking can be broken again

IIRC the main reason Raven used a glass knife is that he could sneak it past metal detectors

he learned to make them as scalpels, then realised they were really good weapons. way too much of snow crash is plot laying, but the stuff he came up with was so fucking cool

He wore a vest full of them for exactly this reason. If I remember correctly, though, someone figured out a way to break them all at once.
