Obviously the boundaries are fuzzy and you can only speak in average terms But Gen X are mostly the kids the Boomers had when they thought they weren't ready and Millennials are the ones they had when they thought they were It explains the differing damage pretty neatlyhttps://twitter.com/MoreAndAgain/status/1371562542284337157 …

I honestly don't think Boomers - or anyone - were all *that* bad at being parents by and large. We act like it all has to be perfect and every parent should have the complete clinical child psych laboratory in their heads. NOBODY does.

As fun as it is to talk shit across the generation gap in personal terms, this is all obviously structural, not individual The "latchkey kid" phenomenon was the result of the economy/job market working the way it did because demographics worked the way they did

It's not like Boomers actually had a big meeting where they all collectively rubbed their hands together and said they'd deny Gen X the same upbringing they had A lot of them in that era tried their best and felt really guilty about the "youth of today"'s situation

There were movies about it and shit (That said, a large percentage of them did directly support policies that made this situation much worse, and should be called out for that)
