YA writers are disproportionately (cis) women, and the specific writers he targeted when he pronounced from his pundit throne that "YA Has A Problem" were disproportionately PoC But I mean he was an arrogant asshat to every single person who stood up to him during that kerfuffle

Jesse's "transphobia", such as it is, is a second-order effect of his first-order motivation in all things, which is to assume that as a white man with a BA in philosophy and a job as a pundit other people need him to tell them when they're being "unreasonable"

Or, as I've come to see things, bigotry is rarely compartmentalized and hyper-focused on one subject and often nearby all-encompassing. It's like conspiratorial thinking: one you start to do it at all, it's super easy to adopt new modes.
