Jonah is the reverse, Jonah *didn't* want God to spare the city, but after he goes and delivers the warning on God's behalf and the city repents, God spares them against Jonah's will, and then Jonah gets all pissy about it

Thanks. I thought it didn't really fit God's style. I still see the OT as God being a bit non-plussed about man not toeing the line despite all the increasing wrath, until Jesus turns up with this radical 'forgiveness' concept
