Irl this is because Fred Melamed is an expensive actor who had scheduling conflicts In-universe, I think it's because Wanda was so freaked out by the events of that episode she put Arthur/Todd in hibernation so she wouldn't have to see him again

It fit right into where she was at that point, though. Just like how the episode is this weird mix of 90s and early 2000s, rather than just a single decade. Even the two movies playing at the theater are from two different decades. She's clearly losing her grip.

Although they're both thematically appropriate movies (The Incredibles is a superhero family and The Parent Trap is both about twins and about deception/impostors)

(The way they played "Mom and Dad aren't fighting but it's not the same" was so good in that episode Vision having this energy of "I'm seeing a therapist on my own and an attorney just to weigh my options" translated to "I have made a secret plan to escape this pocket dimension"
