It can be true - in fact it's often true! - that one partner is a condescending asshole who doesn't respect the other, and the other is an irresponsible jerk who makes shitty decisions and doesn't learn from the consequences And for these traits to reinforce each other over time

The answer is to get divorced (The comments are all saying "Get counseling" and no save your money, get divorced)

Like, he's right that he shouldn't have up to hand over his paycheck to someone he doesn't respect who will make shitty decisions with it that he'll have to live with That's completely valid The answer to that is to get divorced

I also didn't know there were simulations one could play without real money, now I'm kind of intrigued. ESH, but if Dude had any sense, he would have let his wife think she actually lost all that money. She would have blamed herself and gone away.

I've got to think this is fake because it's just too much--several people have noted that most simulations have "simulator!" written in plain English on everything, AND what was he gonna do if she won big??--but as written I hate them both so much, lolsob.

Yeaaaaaaaaahhh no they're both in the wrong here, but I'd say him moreso. Why not just approach her and tell her "hey, let's do some simulation stock stuff first and see if you're ready to handle it?" I don't like how he went behind her back to teach her a lesson, I guess

He says he did do that and she refused

I feel like a marriage struggling because the people in it have bad judgment is an argument against bad judgment. That's like saying a failing restaurant is an argument against having business partners.
-
But it IS an argument against having business partners! Ceteris parabus, having a business partner is a terrible idea! That's why most ordinary people go through lives without one! If I told you I wanted to become your business partner, right now, out of the blue, you'd say no!
