I always thought a key pillar of the superhero genre was going up against a threat big enough that it wouldn't be worth prosecuting.

A big part of the theme of Kick-Ass is that because Dave has no real powers or training or tools to begin with, there doesn't seem to be any point to really worrying about the possible collateral damage of his actions
