There's a pretty cool example of a dynamic similar to this in the film PROSPECT which I watched lately, in which a girl and her kinda terrible dad crash land on a planet and the dad gets shot by Pedro Pascal, and then she has to team up with Pascal to survive >

Pascal breaks into her capsule to ask for help and instead of this "YOU KILLED MY FATHER" stuff they have this quite rational conversation about exactly what he owes her for killing her father and how he can repay that in exchange for her help
