Isn't like Eminem's whole comeback shtick based on having all this deep shame and embarrassment about his former personahttps://twitter.com/broderick/status/1366801292052619268 …

Yeah, we can argue til the cows come home whether he's sincere about having changed, but literally even he has explicitly declared his old songs, uhhh... "insensitive", to use words which won't get me shadowbanned.

for the record I don't actually think he's changed at all, he just recognized that being a *recovering* shithead would earn him the credulous white liberal fans who can buy all his merch

It's just weird and cynical that you don't take a stranger's word for their motivations, instead inventing reasons to not believe them

I'm not particularly inclined to believe bigots have changed when all I have is their word. Maybe it has to do with how I've been queer and friends with queer people for my entire life, and I've been forced to know a lot of bigots. But what do I know.

Yeah I mean I haven't paid to listen to any of his new stuff, just caught it on Spotify out of curiosity It's just funny because I am one of those "elder Millennials" whose world was rocked by "Stan" when it came out when I heard it in high school

And now my feelings about the Recovery Tour and whatnot are just this kind of bittersweet shrug "Well I hope this destigmatizes mental health treatment I mean I'm glad the guy didn't actually OD in 2005"
