This is why Bitcoin is pernicious, it's a meaningless token with *no underlying value* and *no legal rights or guarantees bestowed on the holder* And it does not *store* energy or *contain* energy the way ridiculous statements like this imply it does It simply *uses* energy

It's absurd It's not like you need the blockchain to do it I could just give you Fake Internet Points for using a website or playing a game or whatever much more cheaply and easily with a regular-ass database
-
"But those points only exist as a number in a register on one person's centralized server They have no guaranteed persistent identity, they have no built-in scarcity, the database owner could erase them or massively devalue them by creating too many at a whim"

It's really wild. When I first heard about cryptocurrency I was like, "Oh, so they're just gonna get everyone to care about this new thing the way they care about money, via broad usage, and maybe it transfers easier or something."
-
But apparently people are building some nonsense mythology around how this is the one true money? What even is this? Absolute best case scenario, it's just regular money. That's the max stability you're gonna get.

We despise the blockchain folks, in that we agree at last. Theres a reason we say "Bitcoin, not blockchain" Open source vs centralised money printing schemes.
