Not, like, a big or important one It's just that the government did in fact direct funding to stuff like the Iowa Writers Workshop to try to promote the part of the respectable American artistic community that wasn't saying overt communist stuff

I've talked about this before and I do not, in fact, actually think this makes the Iowa Writers Workshop or Frank Conroy *bad* It just flies in the face of a lot of stupid narratives people have (that ironically they inherited from radicals like Adorno)
