My friend: Taylor Swift taking on Netflix for a hacky Ginny & Georgia line is her taking charge of her own narrative. Another friend: Browbeating a corporation into neutering its art so it doesn't joke about you, a celebrity, is awful! Me: Am I... in CHARGE of the simulation??

I am a huge Swift fan, but she's a frequent collaborator with Netflix who has a lot more leverage here than, say, Tom Cruise. It's a tired joke, and she is well within her rights to be mad about it. I just think publicly criticizing a one-off gag in a new TV show is A Bad Look.

Which is to say I agree with both of my fictional friends in this, a joke tweet about my own self-obsession.

Even if she did ... Netflix is a huge and powerful corporation that is in the business of producing/reproducing cultural norms. They should get pushback for sexist shit that is just a throwaway line.
