Yeah the sheer ridiculousness of what's going on in WandaVision makes this show way more accessible than a plausible scenario about someone creating a similar abusive environment in response to trauma in the real world (and there are many such scenarios)https://twitter.com/emilyvdw/status/1366137666933121024 …

God, that scene was so good. Especially Wanda throwing Monica's compassion back in her face because she isn't ready to own up to her actions and face the world.

In the "Kick-Ass" comic, Big Daddy lies to his daughter about having a tragic backstory and forcing her to be a superhero, like a reverse Wandavision, and it's a million times less fun and the movie version rightfully excorcizes that.

It's honestly one of the best depictions of dealing with someone going through a full on breakdown I've seen, in part because I kind of avoid them. Those layers of powers and costume do a lot to make difficult subjects palatable, and that is itself a valuable service.

The Twilight Zone cornfield is a thing I keep thinking about in comparison. And Wanda's empathy makes all the difference. Go Away I so much better than Begone.
