The kneejerk pro-fertility stuff is something I consider fundamentally right-wing and something that's really its own separate issue, entirely apart from trans stuff Like I think it's horrible how fucking hard it is for cis women to get a tubal or a prophylactic hysterectomy

Has nothing to do with transition or being trans If you're convinced that the possibility of becoming pregnant holds no appeal to you -- and in fact is a major THREAT and RISK to your well-being -- and the side effects also fucking suck, why can't you choose to avoid it

So, say, someone who's been going through crippling endometriosis pain since they were 14, and been told there's little that can be done about it and it might get better with time but to be honest it's quite likely it'll instead get worse, should just have to suck it up

"I know you're in terrible racking pain right now, but if you can just grit your teeth and bear it until you're 30 and REALLY know you don't want kids, I think you'll thank me in the end"

"After all, imagine you did change your mind, and then you had to look at little Bobby and think about how close he came to not existing just because of a little blinding agonizing pain you had as a teenager I can't be responsible for little Bobby not growing up to be a cellist"

Jesus Christ look I am a hardliner and I think people have the right to bodily autonomy regardless of the situation But in real life we're mostly talking about people whose reasons for "sterilization" involve very real, clear, serious "medical symptoms"

I wish folks who are so concerned about people who might experience infertility in the future would bring that level of energy and support for people who are currently experiencing it.

I know our friend here hates generalizing about TERFs as a "monolith" but this is the exact same group of people who are cartoonishly vicious toward anyone who wants to employ surrogacy as a fertility treatment, especially people not born with a uterus themselves
