Where exactly did they say that?

I mean, this is also completely irrelevant to the original point under discussion here. Which was
@smolgardenghost's incredibly ignorant assertion that there's something contradictory between fascism and environmentalism.https://twitter.com/smolgardenghost/status/1364681476952846337 …Nicolas Bray added,

Both Chu and I are talking about DGR here, not just "environmentalism" generally1 reply 0 retweets 2 likes -
I don't know what Alex Gleason's formal affiliation, if any, with Derrick Jensen and DGR is and I don't care I do know that he's talked a lot about radical animal rights and dismantling the industrial farming system and whatnot

I ALSO know that he is unambiguously "fascism-curious" at the very least He literally made a whole big post trying to convince Spinster users they've been unfairly poisoned against the idea of "fascism" and they should open their minds to it

Using an etymological argument - the "fasces" as a symbol of national unity in Roman times - to argue that anyone who likes the idea of solidarity within a country is "fascist", Lincoln's Gettysburg Address is "fascist"

And openly expressing admiration for fascism as an alternative set of values from the "failures of the left" and arguing shit like everything bad about fascism is just patriarchy and fascism would be different under feminism

So yeah I think it's quite fair to suspect him of being "fascist" or a "fascist sympathizer", and use him as very obvious example of what people mean by the term "ecofascist" ("Wouldn't it be great if a strong leader could MAKE everyone stop eating meat and watching porn")

Do I believe in a "conspiracy theory" that Alex Gleason's views are secretly held by all TERFs or even that he's all that influential? Nah In fact I've made fun of the Spinster people for not being nearly as big a deal as they want to be

Do I think it *matters* that a diverse array of nutjobs, many of whom have contradictory weird beliefs, have achieved some measure of success and visibility - and most importantly financial stability - by getting in on the TERF game? Yeah of course

In fact I think the main thing that's troubling about this whole thread is how steadfastly you're against "guilt by association" to comical degrees Like you genuinely think it's a "fallacy" to care AT ALL about who you associate with

I didn't make up some conspiracy theory that all TERFs are secret pro-lifers, I said "HERE IS A LIST of famous TERFs who've received money, visibility and public support from the community who are ALSO outspoken pro-lifers" It's a fucking fact

Whatever your reasoning for doing it, whatever your own personal beliefs and how you justify them not being compromised, you give money to pro-lifers so they can publicly push pro-life propaganda That's literally the mission of Hands Across the Aisle as an org
