90% of the time when people tell each other stories in real life they are sitcom-style stories -- whatever the actual content of the story is, they are told in a sitcom-style tone
If you don't keep your own banter in sitcom mode and instead go into prestige drama mode on a regular basis, you will stop getting invited to parties
I don't know anyone who leads a prestige drama life, they'll tell you they do but at best it's a prestige comedy of errors
