Like seriously what the fuck do they actually mean I seriously could not tell you who is or isn't in my "dating pool" I'm not interested in dating anybody; if I became interested in dating someone, wouldn't that one person just be my "pool"

Yeah I'm generally interested in women, that doesn't mean every woman on the face of the Earth is "in my dating pool" The fuck does that mean What an arrogant thing to say

What would it mean to expand my "dating pool" from every woman on Earth to every human being on Earth I'm still not realistically ever going to date or even seriously consider dating almost all of them What actually changes

This is seriously Internet Brain thinking, like the "dating pool" thing only makes sense if you use an app on Tinder and you're pissed off that matches pop up that you have to swipe left on that you wish were automatically filtered

Outside of that context of an actual "pool" you are being made to physically look at on an app, this kind of talk just comes off as incredibly full of yourself "Ugh I'm so mad there's too many people in my abstract mental dating pool"

"I hate sitting here having someone's face pop up on my mind at random intervals and asking myself the question, 'Would I date this person?' It's so annoying, I wish I could opt out"

Wow, is Google unhelpful here! Every link discusses it as though it has a definition but discuss it as though it means fairly different things. Even the Urban Dictionary definition is so vague as to be thuddingly obvious and utterly useless.

That said, I think it predates the internet and refers to the people specifically in your loose social circle to whom you are sufficiently attracted to consider dating. A dating pool includes Jim in accounting but not the cute guy at the end of the bar.

I thought the whole point of dating apps is that if you got matched with someone you didn't find attractive you could just swipe left.

TERFs apparently find their swiping fingers get tired from rejecting trans women on dating apps all day and feel the need to take to the Internet and decry this as a profound violation In this they aren't really that different from MRA dudes complaining about too many fatties
