90% of the time when people tell each other stories in real life they are sitcom-style stories -- whatever the actual content of the story is, they are told in a sitcom-style tone

If you don't keep your own banter in sitcom mode and instead go into prestige drama mode on a regular basis, you will stop getting invited to parties

This is my problem- and it's a big &&#@#^& problem - with Wandavision: the sitcoms are WAAY more entertaining than the po-faced mArVeL storyline around them. (Also to be that aware of historic TV cliches and then just allow your own so glibly is missing a trick.)

I love sitcoms, but I wish modern sitcoms relied less on secondhand embarrassment. It was genuinely funny when Lucy and Ethel ended up eating a bunch of food off a conveyor belt because they couldn't keep up with the speed!

It is less funny to watch characters say and do horrible things so we can all cringe on their behalf. Black-ish escapes that trap really well, but I have trouble thinking of other recent shows that do.
