there isn't though. he likes to be seen as independent, so Dem leadership yelling at him is pretty much what he wants. and if eh really gets pissed he can switch parties, and then Ds have even less ability to pass their agenda.

it's frustrating, but there really isn't much they can do. if we'd won NC and ME, things would be a lot different. but we didn't and they aren't.

I think, given the urgency of the situation, there's plenty of options available, they're just not the kind Biden personally finds palatable.

If we're gonna get into edgelord fedposting let me just point out any potential "extreme measures", if you were going to deploy them, would be kind of a huge waste to just flip Joe Manchin's vote (considering the enormous downside risk)

And the impulse - which I agree is very tempting - to sweep aside all the rules and go "Let's get REAL democracy, STREET democracy, let's see what the real will of the people is!" - would go very badly for most marginalized people

I mean I don't see how things are not inevitably going incredibly badly for most marginalized people, no matter what

Well if it's as bad as all that then why isn't it worth putting it off as long as possible

Do you want to be the one unwell person in Anne Frank's attic throwing the window open yelling "LET'S JUST GET THIS OVER WITH, COME AT ME"
