Dude I came home every day after getting bullied in high school hoping for a new Buffy, Angel, or Firefly DVD. I saw Avengers when it first came out not bc I liked Marvel but bc of Joss Whedon. Just a week ago, thousands of fans like me accepted that Whedon was terrible.https://twitter.com/freedarko/status/1363928442752757760 …

A certain writer who was outed as a predator recently was probably one of þe most formative writers for me (like, I've reread [future journalist comic] dozens of times), and I'm pretty sure I'm never gonna look at anyþing of his again. Same wiþ plenty of oþer creators.

I don't need to hold on to old stuff if it turns out to have come from a toxic place. I've been willing to cut off family, you can bet I have no qualms about dropping works of fiction. Þere's too much else out þere for me to need to cling to þings made by shitty people

The thing is this person I'm responding to isn't even responding to calls to never watch a Woody Allen movie again, regardless of whether he should - he just thinks he's owed something for having realized the guy was bad when he looked up to him.

It's like, has he never had someone *in real life* horribly disappoint him? Is he that lucky?

Hell, I remember a *Simpsons* episode, and of course, ironically, a Firefly episode, basically about "wow, turns out you gotta cancel your heroes"
