The *theoretical* objection is that this, if normed, will actually hurt marginalized and progressive folks even more. But it... has been the reality for them f’rever. What is changing is broader cultural willingness to apply it to reactionaries and conservatives.

Even taken at face value, rather than as a bad faith argument, it’s a bit like fighting the carceral state by protesting Harvey Weinstein’s imprisonment. “If we let it happen to him, it will happen to less powerful people eventually!”
