You know the funny thing about this is Mary Kate and Ashley are fraternal twins All three of them are related to each other to the same degree, it's just random chance that Elizabeth ended up taller and her two big sisters the same heighthttps://twitter.com/eclecticbrotha/status/1363301120144244737 …

Mary Kate and Ashley do look pretty similar to each other, but as they got older it started getting more and more obvious they were not, in fact, identical twins This *may* have played a part in people losing their fascination with them

I appreciate that, as what may be a nod to this, Wanda's twins on WandaVision aren't identical at all, and by the time they hit the age of 10 don't even look similar (I mean, that's also so they could save themselves grief when auditioning child actors but still)

It's a whole thing that in real life dizygotic twins are WAY more common than monozygotic twins But because it's not actually that interesting compared to the dramatic situations having an identical twin can cause, you almost never see fraternal twins in fiction

It's just having a sibling who has your same birthday, big whoop (I mean sometimes they get mileage out of wanting to do "twin" tropes with the siblings having different assigned sex at birth, like Wanda and Pietro)

Replying to @arthur_affect
Not enough half-identical twins in fiction And I mean half-identical in terms of both "two different sperm but identical eggs" and "identical twins but one is trans" and they should be used interchangeably and often without explanation

What if both of them are trans but only one of them is an uwu catgirl and one of them is you
