worth noting that in the states at least the public/private distinction doesn't track information by how "intrinsically private" it is, but how easily accessible to the public it is if you have sex in plain view on a public street, that's not "private information"

likewise if you go around publicly identifying yourself with your real name as the author of blog so notable it gets discussed in the new york times, all of that is public information
