yeah when you put it like this, "do siskind's Black patients have a right to know that he thinks they are genetically inferior" seems like a pretty straightforward question to answer

Even if you insist on pretending the dogwhistles are completely inaudible and you leave race and gender and so on completely out of it, Scott's general attitude of bemused contempt at irrational dumb normies is very off-putting in a mental health professional

This is one of those things where arguing about it isn't gonna be fruitful, because his fans tend to cite the exact same passages I think vividly demonstrate said bemused contempt they cite as illustrations of deep humanist empathy

I feel like the people who say Scott demonstrated great "empathy" on his blog are wrong, and not just that but hilariously and utterly wrong, and in a way that vividly demonstrates how narcissistic this kind of thing gets

They find him super "empathetic" because he empathizes WITH THEM, and performs that empathy at great length and with great florid passion And then they wonder why no one else being talked about feels the empathy Like someone in a hot tub on a snowy day asking "Why are you cold"

Like seriously his rants about how he just doesn't understand Chads and Stacies, how violent alcoholics with an IQ of 80 are a closed book to him, how he doesn't get what makes these Jezebel feminists tick This all gets praised to the heavens as "empathy"

Because he keeps talking about how *bad* it feels not to get it, how much it *hurts him* not to get it, *how hard he's been trying to get it* And his audience empathizes with THAT

(The idea that there's even one sentence in "Radicalizing the Romanceless" that makes a good faith effort to empathize with women's view of "the dating market" and why "Nice Guys" cause them frustration and resentment is absurd but people say so with a straight face)

Jordan Peterson, who is of course worse than Scott on most metrics one could name, is at least more bluntly honest than Scott Or just older and feeling more secure (as a tenured academic who no longer practices clinically)

When Peterson describes internally snapping and mentally categorizing the woman on his couch as a vapid delusional liar incapable of logic who'd never had a true thought except by accident and almost shaking with contempt and rage At least he put it all out there

Anyway don't take my word for it I didn't save receipts, because it was stupid, but there was a dust-up on his blog back in the day when one of the commenters on his subreddit diagnosed him with schizoid personality disorder

I don't condone diagnoses from a distance or anything, and the commenter IIRC came off as a very "anti-woke" jerk himself But it was fun seeing Scott get what he was giving - he was upset enough by it to comment on it on the blog

(The commenter, who I guess claimed to have a background in clinical psych, just made an offhand comment that a vivid description from Scott about a patient interaction was "classic schizoid")
