The idea that this game's agenda is "apolitical" is trivially easy to dismantle Just switch the sides Make a game about playing an Iraqi insurgent who shoots US Marines Is THAT game political? Would it be generally accepted as such? Would this guy even consider making it?https://twitter.com/tha_rami/status/1361412506124705799 …

what the fucking fuck are you talking about what political statement is there in "making up false pretenses to bomb the fuck out of a country killing hundreds of thousands of innocent people over a decade is bad" how the fuck can you fail even the most basic humanity test pic.twitter.com/prPFmprgs2

Every single defense given of this game would apply equally to the other Insurgents are also human beings who suffer Insurgents also feel they are caught between their duty and their natural human reactions to violence

Insurgents are also at the whims of policymakers whose decisions they have no power to second-guess Insurgents also, once combat begins, are trapped in a situation of kill-or-be-killed and must live with the consequences

It's a simple question Why is this the game you made and not the other one If you think it's possible to explore empathy for a soldier's life without endorsing one side in a war, why do you think the US military needs another such exploration when the insurgency never got any

Later on in Rami's thread, they talk about conveying the experience of the soldiers being there because of politics. So if they're trying to do that while also not talking about those politics, they're either lying to us or themselves.

I'm confused, wasn't Six Days in Fallujah cancelled the first time because it was going to show the perspectives of the US forces AND the insurgents, and the Fox News crowd blew their tops?

For real. If you even think about it for a second and consider the Iraqi ‘insurgents’ (who are, to be clear, freedom fighters defending their home from an occupying army they didn’t invite) as humans, and the civilians as more than window dressing, it becomes a blatant falsity.

Whenever these people say "it's not political", what they mean by that is "it's not pro-leftist/social justice", and what they mean by THAT is that they don't want the fascists to stop buying their game.

They might not themselves be Nazis, but they absolutely acknowledge that the Nazis and their adjacents are a large contingent of their purchasers, and they're willing to sell out on that front.
