But yeah G0-T0 is just an inferior copy of Revan (as, arguably, is the Exile) KotOR 2's argument is that Revan's fall to the Sith was because when he made contact with the True Sith in the Unknown Regions and understood what they represented he broke

He came to genuinely believe that the Dark Side was too powerful, inevitable That liberalism was weak and self-contradictory and predestined to devolve into fascism And the only way to fight was to try to manage the fall, to be the one in charge

To make a Sith Republic so that when the Dark triumphed it would wear a familiar face, as a preferable option to the truly alien True Sith just wiping out everyone and everything he'd ever known A deluded quest, perhaps, but an understandable one

Yeah that makes all the Star Forge nonsense from the first game make a whole lot more sense in hindsight, like of course Revan wants a massive replenishable army

The HK-50 Factory was Revan's backup plan for if the Star Forge failed His attempt to take one of his most successful projects, HK-47, and mass-produce it

Instead of going fash through outright conquest to do so via corruption Put a bunch of "protocol droids" into mass production who are too smart and useful not to use but who constantly seem to subtly make any political situation they're involved in worse

Accelerationism embodied They look like their job is to make tense situations better but they make them worse

Even for people who supposedly know their secret ("They're spies and assassins disguised as diplomats and translators") They don't get it They don't really work for you

Flashback to HK-47's humorous backstory in KotOR 1 and how every job he took always dissolved into general havoc and chaos, and every master he had after Revan ended up dying a horrific death

The terrible truth that the HKs exist to further the Dark Side itself More conflict and chaos is more opportunities for the strong to exert their will on the weak, for the weak to be crushed and the strong to grow stronger, until eventually strength is all that remains

And the terrible truth behind that is that, even though with Revan gone the 50s act like independent mercenaries, and G0-T0 tried to incompetently co-opt them as Revan's inferior successor, the HK-50s long ago decided "the strong" meant only themselves

This is both really dark and cool Cerebus Syndrome for what was just a black comedy joke in KotOR 1 and then wraps around to being that again in with the HK Factory plot

HK-47 goes off on a quest to destroy the HK Factory and shut down the HK-50s because he was very proud of being an avatar of pointless violence and this philosophical horseshit about pointless violence actually having a point confuses and infuriates him
