I'm not sure these people actually know how to read for comprehension, tbf.

i guess that depends if they are in the phase ‘eugenics is actually good so what if siskind's an eugenicist’ or the phase ‘siskind's not an eugenicist’

Scott is obviously pro-eugenics, but clearly distinguishes between types of eugenics.

Not distinguishing between types of eugenics or whether they are compulsory or voluntary is pretty dumb.

"Tying eugenics to income is better than what we have now" is not talking about anything voluntary.

Because that's the thing: this "voluntary eugenics" is never a bunch of people getting together and saying, "therefore, I won't have kids." It's a bunch of people getting together and saying "Other people are having kids and I don't think they should, how do I make them stop"

Generally they flip out because they perceive the people who make a "rational" decision not to have their own kids as "high IQ" and the ones who make the "irrational" decision to have kids as "low IQ" It's "dysgenic" (an even bigger red flag word than "eugenics")

That's inaccurate. Fertility being negatively correlated with IQ is just an empirical fact. The long-term consequences of that are unknown and could be bad, but the dysgenics hysteria is probably overblown. We'll be genetically engineering ourselves well before then.

What's inaccurate, the fact that they flip out or the idea that their flipping out is justified My assertion that they flip out about it is highly justified, they talk about it all the fucking time

Of course the flipping out itself is "inaccurate", eugenics is bunk and IQ is bullshit

Remember Ideocract and the idea of intelligence as a fixed genetic factor rather than environmental?

Intelligence is such a slippery concept. At the very least not a single trait but a whole host of different ones interacting. Even if there are genetic components to some of them good luck isolating them well enough to do anything useful with that ...
